Our History
This Convent was the reason Children’s Home was opened in the year 2015 than 2012 when the Home was set ready to receive children. Why? Children needed Sisters who would care, nurture ensure children safety. When St. Raphael Convent was open, two sisters had been sent 2 years prior to the opening of the Home as they commute from St. Francis a sister community. These were Sr. Teresa Anne Onguso and Sr. Maurice Michael Adhiambo Ochieng.
The two sisters stayed two until the year 2017 when Sr. Lucy Veronica was posted to St. Raphael Convent. In 2018 more sisters were posted to the Convent and sr. Teresa Anne was transferred. The new sisters were: Sr. Florence Terence Atieno, Sr. Seraphine Chepngeno Rono. Sr. Josina was posted to St. Raphael in 2019 and Sr. Lucy Veronica posted out and Sr. Josina soon left and we remained three sisters. We are sincerely grateful to God for his love and protection who after a long period allowed another sister to join us, that is Sr. Loice Veronica Ogonda in 2023.

Sr. Florence view of the community life
We work together, eat together, recreate and enjoy leisure time together, we pray together and share our things in common. It is such an amazing life that we really enjoy living together. During Outings, we do everything as a community. Strengthened by the power of love for one another, we check on each other to make sure everyone is on track and everyone is fine. We take care of ourselves as we journey together in our religious life.
It is interesting to see that we share moments of joy together as well as moments of grief together. This is our dream and this is what the religious life demands; that brothers and sisters live together as a community, doing and sharing all things in common. What does one need in life? Is it not love and care from those around him? This is exactly what community life offers us. We are happy to be in this religious community which has been made possible through the power of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are happy to live as a cenacle of Apostles as St Francis had dreamed!"
